as a man thinks, so is he

looking glass self.

  • we imagine how we appear to those around us
  • we interpret others reactions
  • we develop a self concept

your are selfish. you are weak. you are small. you can't do it. no one wants to hear what you have to say. your life means nothing. you have no purpose. people think your weird. people don't like you. you will never be successful. just shut up. don't say what your thinking, no one cares. no one is looking after you. you are alone. you are isolated. you are stupid. just stop.

you are a child of God. i will use you to do great things. you have the potential to change lives. i created you for a purpose. you can have everlasting joy in me. you have something to give people. you have an important message to bring. i will reward you for obedience. you are loved more then you could ever comprehend, imagine, or dream of. you will do great things.

which voice resounds the loudest in your head?

don't let people tell you who you are. you find your identity in Christ. when you listen to what other people tell you, and the voices that the enemy puts in your head, a self-fulfilling prophecy occurs. people take on the characteristics attributed to them. thats not who we are. thats not who we were created to be. we were created to be like Jesus. don't live in isolation and internalization. become transparent.

don't let your self-image reflect the world projection.

don't let the world control your mirror.
